ALLY McCoist makes an admission about his Rangers pay packet, Celtic plan new deals for two strikers, another English side move in for John Souttar, plus news and fixtures from the SPFL Premiership in Saturday’s Rumour Mill

McCoist ‘went without pay’

RANGERS manager Ally McCoist has revealed that he went without pay as the club went into administration.

McCoist said: “I did, yes. But I don’t want to say that as if ‘what a great guy he is’.

“I was never asked to do that. We went with a proposal to the administrators and they said thanks very much.” (Mail)

Samaras and Stokes deals planned

CELTIC boss Neil Lennon has revealed that the club will be speaking to Georgios Samaras about a new deal, while also revisiting contract talks with Anthony Stokes.

Lennon said: “We are aware that he (Samaras) is out of contract at the end of the season.

“We will be speaking to Georgios and his representatives pretty soon and we will speak to Stokesy again. I don’t know when but it will happen.” (Various)

QPR in for John Souttar

HARRY Redknapp’s QPR have joined the race for Dundee United’s teenage defender John Souttar.

The 17-year-old stopper has impressed this season, and Sunderland have already seen a £600,000 bid accepted. Redknapp is reportedly willing to match that offer in his bid to take Souttar to Loftus Road. (Record)

Hamill ready for ‘double cup final’

HEARTS’ Jamie Hamill has branded his side’s game with St Mirren as a ‘double cup final’.

The midfielder believes that the fixture is far more important than usual due to Hearts’ 15-point penalty to start the season.

He said: “It’s one I’m looking forward to, as is everyone else in the dressing room. It’s obviously a massive game for us.” (Scotsman)

Tudur Jones pleased with Wales call-up

HIBS midfielder Owain Tudur Jones has been recalled to the Wales squad for their games with Macedonia and Belgium this month.

Tudur Jones said: “I’m delighted, and honest enough to acknowledge that with a fully-fit squad I probably wouldn’t be selected.” (Sun)
