THE football transfer window in Scotland and England closes tonight, with the SPL window slamming shut at 11pm tonight (midnight for SFL clubs) and we’ll be with you throughout the day bringing you the latest Scottish transfers as and when they happen - plus a few of the bigger moves from down south.

• Hit F5 or press refresh for updates

11.01pm: And the transfer window has slammed shut(!) for the SPL. SFL clubs still have around an hour to sign players - and of course, free agents are able to sign outwith the windows.

We’ll have a full run down of all the SPL deals early tomorrow.

Thanks for following our live blog today.

10.51pm: Nine minutes left and Hibs have finally brought in that winger - Matt Done from Barnsley joins on loan until the end of the season.

10.45pm: 15 minutes to go until the window slams shut. Celtic have failed in a bid to get Kevin Doyle in on loan, Sheffield United have an offer for Johnny Russell turned down by Dundee United, and Gary Hooper remains a Celtic player.

10.43pm: Mostly quiet on the transfer front as we count down to 11pm. Celtic have denied that Norwich tabled a fifth bid for Gary Hooper. Reports said Norwich submitted an offer of more than £9 million for the striker. Neil Lennon tweeted of Hooper: “He is NOT for sale.”

8.17pm: Aberdeen have signed Mark Reynolds on a four-and-a-half year deal after the defender was freed by Sheffield Wednesday.

7.47pm: Quite a few deals being brokered now. St Johnstone have confirmed that Newcastle midfielder Mehdi Abeid has joined Gwion Edwards on loan until the end of the season. Marcus Maddison, also a Magpie, is expected to join the McDiarmid Park side but will meet up with the Perthshire club next week.

Meanwhile, Kevin Moon has left the club by mutual consent.

Aberdeen have confirmed that on-loan defender Mark Reynolds has had his contract terminated by Sheffield Wednesday and could sign for the Pittodrie club on a permanent basis.

7.01pm: Winger Gwion Edwards has joined St Johnstone on loan, according to Swansea City. Another midfielder for St Johnstone - although they knocked back an earlier bid for Liam Craig from Hibs (he has already agreed a pre-contract with the Easter Road side) might the Saints be prepared to let Craig go later tonight?

The Scottish transfer window will slam shut tonight at 11pm

5.53pm: Ross County have signed defender Branislav Micic from Swiss side FC Sion whilst Ross Tokely and Mark Fitzpatrick have been told they can leave.

5.46pm: Rumours on Twitter that Hibs are interested in Barnsley’s Matt Done, a 24-year-old winger.

5.35pm: Looking increasingly unlikely that Hearts will bring in a striker. They had been after Ryan Noble from Sunderland, and were looking at getting a striker in this morning. Time is also against Hibs as they look to bring in a winger.

5.30pm: Still no news on Dan Twardzik’s deal with Aberdeen, although the goalkeeper has agreed to sign for the Dons.

5.20pm: Former Kilmarnock defender Ben Gordon has been released by Chelsea - after losing Michael Nelson to Bradford, Kenny Shiels could move for the player to bolster his defence.

5.00pm: Motherwell striker Craig Moore joins Dumbarton on loan. He had previously been on loan at Central Park with Cowdenbeath.

4.35pm: And there it is. Dundee have signed Nottingham Forest midfielder David Morgan on loan until the end of the season. Morgan is 18 years old, and a Northern Ireland Under-21 international. He has recently been on loan at Lincoln City.

4.05pm: Some fantastic rumours out there but nothing concrete. Yet. But there may well be news coming from Tayside soon...

3.57pm: Still nothing coming from Tannadice - Gary Mackay-Steven and Johnny Russell are still Dundee United players. Aberdeen have, like last year, concluded business early doors and will not be bringing anyone else in before the deadline. Hearts have renewed the contracts of three players (Hamilton, Carrick and McHattie) but are yet to bring anyone in. Hibs are working at bringing in Liam Craig. St Johnstone have signed Mehdi Abeid on loan from Newcastle, Paul Dummett has returned to St Mirren on loan and there’s very little news or gossip in the Highlands for Inverness CT and Ross County. There’s very little activity at Motherwell and Kilmarnock (who released Lee Johnson last night). Dundee are, to our knowledge, still working at bringing in a striker.

3.55pm: Celtic are reportedly close to tying up a deal for Trelleborgs goalkeeper Viktor Noring.

3.45pm: So Norwich have signed Luciano Becchio, and Steve Morison has gone to Leeds in return. One striker in, one striker out - Celtic have said they won’t entertain any bid for Gary Hooper below £8 million and knocked back a fourth bid earlier today. This one could go on and on.

3.30pm: And another EPL loan signing makes his way to the SPL. Paul Dummett is swapping the black and white stripes of Newcastle for the er, black and white stripes of St Mirren. Danny Lennon had been working hard to bring Dummett back to Paisley - he joins fellow Magpie Conor Newton.

3.15pm: Confirmation that Medhi Abeid has joined St Johnstone on loan. The Newcastle midfielder tweeted: ‘Départ for saint johnstone on loan for the rest of the season! #need a game!’ That’s two midfielders in the space of about 24 hours - might Liam Craig be on his way to Easter Road tonight?

3.00pm: It seems that the ‘Gregg Wylde to Hibs’ rumour has been stirred up again. Last January, Hibs kept the lid on a number of their loan signings until late on in the day - might we see a similar story today?

2.45pm: Hearts have tied up goalkeeper Jack Hamilton and striker Dale Carrick on deals until 2014, while Scotland Under-21 left-back Kevin McHattie agrees a deal that will keep him at Tynecastle until 2015.

2.30pm: The situation with Celtic striker Miku appears to be up in the air. Getafe are keen to sell the forward but also expect him to remain at Celtic until the season’s end.

2.13pm: Celtic have knocked back a fourth bid from Norwich for Gary Hooper. It was revealed yesterday that Neil Lennon and Peter Lawwell had made a pact not to sell Gary Hooper in this window.

1.50pm: All quiet on the Gregg Wylde front for Hibs, too, despite Bury manager Kevin Blackwell - where Wylde was recently on loan - declaring he was almost certain that the former Rangers winger would be making his way to Easter Road.

1.40pm: Looks like Hibernian and St Johnstone are attempting to negotiate a deal that would see Liam Craig join the Easter Road side before tonight’s deadline, rather than waiting until summer. The Perth club brought in a left-sided midfielder in Michael Doughty yesterday, so there could be mileage in this one.

1.23pm: Graeme McGregor has agreed to terminate his contract at St Mirren. The midfielder made no appearances for the Paisley side.

12.47pm: St Johnstone are chasing two English Premier League midfielders - Mehdi Abeid of Newcastle and Gwion Edwards of Swansea City. Michael Doughty signed on loan from QPR yesterday - looks like Steve Lomas’ connections down south are suiting the Perthshire side.

12.18pm: One that slipped by yesterday - Inverness CT midfielder Gavin Morrison is off to Elgin City on loan for the remainder of the season. He spent time on loan at Grindavik in Iceland last year.

12.15pm: Dundee chief executive Scot Gardiner (@DfcScot) tweeted yesterday: “One deal for a Dutch striker (based on the continent) fell through today. This afternoon in fact. Working on another deal now as we speak.”

Any guesses, Dundee fans?

12.10pm: Hearts have allowed David Smith to stay at Raith Rovers for another month.

12.02pm: Dan Twardzik is almost an Aberdeen player. The brother of Patrik and Filip of Celtic has agreed an 18-month deal after signing from Como - yet to be confirmed however.

12.00pm: Dumbarton have signed St Mirren’s Paul McGinn on loan until the end of the season.

11.55am: Stirling Albion goalkeeper Mark Peat and strikers Gary Brass and Andy Hunter have all left the Third Division club by mutual consent.

11.50am: Gordon Strachan will announce his first Scotland squad in just over an hour’s time, for the friendly match with Estonia. Motherwell’s Henrik Ojamaa is in the visitors’ squad.

11.25am: Still very little news coming out of Scotland. Most of the wheeling and dealing will likely be carried out later today, but several players could leave before then. Both Pa Kujabi and Danny Galbraith have been told they can leave Hibs, and Lee Johnson was released yesterday afternoon by Kilmarnock.

11.15am: So with Danny Graham seemingly on his way to Sunderland, will Norwich step up their efforts to bring Gary Hooper? The Canaries have put in a fourth bid this morning and several Scottish newspapers are reporting that Celtic have replacements lined up should Hooper leave.

10.45am: St Mirren are currently negotiating a deal to bring defender Paul Dummett back on loan from Newcastle.

10.40am: Apparently Plymouth Argyle have released Robbie Williams. Make your own jokes...

10.34am: Norwich reportedly submit a fourth bid for Celtic striker Gary Hooper. Some papers were reporting this morning that Celtic would look to bring in Kevin Doyle on loan if Hooper went for ‘bank-busting money’.

10.25am: The entertaining Mario Balotelli has completed a four-and-a-half year deal to join AC Milan from Manchester City. Doubt we’ve heard the last of him, however. Click here to read about his move in a political context.

10.11am: FA Cup giant-killers Oldham have signed Scottish striker Chris Iwelumo from Watford on loan. The one-time Scotland international (four caps, no goals) was shipped out to Notts County on loan earlier this season but returned after failing to find the net in five games. He has scored 4 goals in 45 games for Watford since his July 2011 move from Burnley.

10.10am: Aberdeen may well agree a deal for Dan Twardzik (older brother of Celtic duo Patrik and Filip) from Como on an 18 month contract. Jamie Langfield is currently first choice keeper for the Dons, and after Jason Brown’s departure earlier this week, teenage Danny Rogers is the only backup.

10.00am: So about the rumour that Celtic are pondering a £1 million move for Johnny Russell of Dundee United. Cheeky or shrewd? Remember, the Tannadice club turned down a bid this time last year from Huddersfield of around £1.75 million for both Russell and Gary Mackay-Steven, calling it derisory. Should Celtic up their offer if they are keen on Russell?

9.55am: Seems like Danny Graham’s proposed move to Middlesbrough is a non-starter. His agent has ruled out a move to Tony Mowbray’s Championship side - but Graham is reportedly keen on a move back to the north of England...

9.45am: Would your team benefit from a midfield powerhouse? Is your strikeforce in desperate need of a target man? Perhaps your defence needs a little tweaking. Tell us in the comments below what your club needs.

9.40am: Few vague rumours doing the rounds at the moment. John McGlynn is after an under-21 striker based in England - but it won’t be Ryan Noble, it seems, whilst Hibs are still loosely linked with Bolton winger Gregg Wylde. Pat Fenlon admitted yesterday that he was keen to sign a winger before the end of the window.

9.35am: Ah, transfer deadline day. And the return of that classic one-liner: “It’s transfer deadline day today. Or in [insert name of much-maligned club here]’s case, Thursday.” Football’s a cruel, cruel game.

9.25am: Ex-Blackburn defender Christopher Samba has reportedly passed his medical at QPR & is expected to finalise a £12.5m move from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala very soon.

8.55am: Not too much movement so far in Scotland - down south Danny Graham looks set to swap Swansea for Middlesbrough in a reported £5 million deal, whilst in Scotland, Arbroath have signed Hibs kid Euan Smith on loan.

First, a quick look at what the papers are reporting...
