QUEEN of the South’s reward for eliminating League Cup holders St Mirren is a tie against Hearts at Tynecastle in the third round.
The draw for the third round was made at Easter Road this morning, and draw hosts Hibs landed a home tie against League One Stranraer - who also enjoyed a giant-killing win on Tuesday when they came from behind to beat Ross County 3-2 at Stair Park.
Celtic are in the strange position of being in two cup draws in one day. After their heroics against Shakhter Karagandy at Celtic Park last night they are eagerly awaiting the Champions League group stage from Monaco at 4.45 this afternoon. First up though was the League Cup, and they have been handed a home draw against Allan Moore’s Morton.
Jackie McNamara and his Dundee United team have been paired with the manager’s former club Partick Thistle at Tannadice, while Aberdeen face a tricky away match against Falkirk on the Championship club’s new plastic pitch.
Hamilton Accies, flying high in the Scottish Championship, stunned Kilmarnock with a 1-0 win at Rugby Park on Tuesday, and they will fancy their chances of taking another Premiership scalp when they host St Johnstone at New Douglas Park.
Livingston will host Motherwell and Dundee will entertain Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Dens Park.
The ties will be played on 24 and 25 September.
