Kilmarnock seal Campbell move

KILMARNOCK have signed 21-year-old defender Iain Campbell from Premierleague rivals Dunfermline. Campbell, the son of Partick Thistle manager Dick Campbell, sealed a two-year deal and will start training at the Rugby Park club tomorrow.

HAMILTON yesterday signed teenager John Neill on loan from Hearts. The 18-year-old can play in either centre midfield or defence and has been fixed up until the end of December.

QUEEN of the South have beat the transfer deadline to sign Warren Moon. The 24-year-old left-sided midfielder, who was born in Kent but moved to Australia and has been playing with Queensland Roar, is fixed up until January.

DEFENDERS Robert Huth and Jonathan Woodgate have agreed to join Middlesbrough. Huth signed a five-year deal for 6 million, while injury-plagued Woodgate agreed a one-year loan from Real Madrid.

Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate also confirmed the signing of Charlton striker Jason Euell.

CHARLTON Athletic have completed a four-year deal for Senegal defender Souleymane Diawara. The centre-half, 27, cost 3.7 million deal from French club Sochaux.

PORTSMOUTH have signed midfielder Manuel Fernandes on loan from Benfica.

Thatcher banned

MANCHESTER City have banned Ben Thatcher for six games - two of which are suspended - and fined him six weeks wages following his elbows-first challenge on Portsmouth player Pedro Mendes.

"As custodians of the club, and football in general, the board and the manager felt it was important to act as soon as possible," said City's chief executive Alistair Mackintosh.

Ballack bag fine

CHELSEA'S Michael Ballack was fined 47,000 for failing to declare to Germans customs a handbag he bought for his wife in Dubai.

Ballack had tax evasion charges dropped and settled with the state court two days before the case was to go to trial. His status as one of the world's best-paid footballers proved costly as the fine for an infraction in Germany is determined by income.
