FIREFIGHTER John Cameron doused Clach’s cup ambitions – and kept the flame alive for Nairn County’s treble hopes.

The 23-year-old scored the opening goal as the Wee County won through 2-1 to the League Cup semi-finals with 10 men.

Les Fridge’s side have already captured the North of Scotland Cup trophy while they also remain involved the five-way league title race

Cameron said: “We won this cup a few years ago and we really want to do well again. We were hanging on at the end and we did really well to get through.”

Elsewhere in the last eight, Keith triumphed in a penalty shoot-out with Buckie after the 120 minutes ended tied at 3-3.

Inverurie Locos thrashed Deveronvale 4-1 to set up a semi-final against Brora, who beat Formartine 4-2.

In the league, Wick leapt back into second place, a point behind Cove after a hugely-significant 2-1 win over the leaders.
