Germany humiliate Brazil in remarkable rout

GERMANY bulldozed their way into the World Cup final last night thanks largely to five goals inside 18 first-half minutes that left host nation Brazil shellshocked in Belo Horizonte.

Without captain Thiago Silva and talisman Neymar, the Brazilians were destroyed by a ruthless German side which eventually scored seven in their fourth successive World Cup semi-final. It is the biggest humiliation in the history of Brazilian footballand sent shockwaves throughout the world. Put simply, it was one of the most stunning results in the history of world football.

Thomas Müller opened the scoring on 11 minutes before Miroslav Klose added a second 12 minutes later to become the World Cup’s all-time record goalscorer with 16 goals, eclipsing Ronaldo’s total of 15.

A minute after that, Toni Kroos added a third as the disjointed Brazilian defence, with Dante Bonfim deputising for Thiago Silva, began to capitulate in quite shocking fashion. Kroos converted his second moments later before Sami Khedira added the fifth a minute before the half-hour mark.

Brazil’s sub-standard marking and concentration levels were badly exposed throughout the first half. After half-time German substitute Andre Schürrle stroked home a sixth goal from a low cross in the 69th minute. As boos and whistles emanated from the vast home support, Schürrle lashed a seventh in off the underside of the crossbar on 79 minutes. The closing stages were played virtually at walking pace. Brazil did score a consolation goal at the death through Oscar.

But Germany completed the most convicing World Cup semi-final win in history, becoming the first team ever to score seven goals at this stage.
