The Rumour Mill: Wednesday's football news and transfer gossip

In today's Rumour Mill: Boruc frustrated in Florence; Hughes says Stokes' heart wasn't in it; Cadamarteri shows fight; plus the rest of the day's football news and transfer gossip.

Unhappy Boruc considers quitting Fiorentina

Artur Boruc (pictured) fears he may have made the biggest mistake of his career quitting Celtic for Fiorentina. The keeper moved to Florence in a 1million deal in the summer but has since been kept out of the first team by Frenchman Sebastian Frey. "I came to play," Boruc said. "Against Ukraine for Poland I played well but I can't continue on the bench in Florence. I'm glad to be back in the national team ... but if the situation doesn't change I'll simply change clubs. I wanted a change after so long at Celtic but it's difficult to say if I made the right choice." (Daily Express)

Hughes: Why I sold Stokes

Hibs boss John Hughes has finally broken his silence on why he sold Anthony Stokes to Celtic. Stokes clinched a 1.2million switch on transfer deadline day, much to the dismay of Hibs fans. Hughes said: "Anthony Stokes expressed a real desire to sign for Celtic. He's a Dublin-born Irish boy who supported the club all his life. He told me that is where his heart lay. His performance against St Mirren also told me his heart and mind lay elsewhere. That is not a criticism of Stokesy. I wanted him to go out of this club with a bang but it was not to be."

Cadamarteri ready to fight for United place

Danny Cadamarteri last night insisted he's ready to scrap it out to become a Dundee United favourite again. The former Everton striker is determined to regain his starting slot after the Tannadice club admitted they were prepared to let him go in the transfer window. Cadamarteri said: "It's like a fresh start in some ways and I'm determined to take it. I was happy just to get through the transfer window and still be here." (Daily Record)

New Dons defender's relief

Nikola Vujadinovic believes his last-minute move on loan to Aberdeen from Udinese has saved him from the football scrapheap. The Montenegro Under-21 international is set for a debut against Dundee United on Saturday after being granted a work permit. He said: "It's been a long week. Had I not got the permit, I would have stayed in Italy and not played for months." (Daily Record)

Accies in the money

Hamilton chairman Ronnie McDonald has revealed the club is now debt-free as they continue to earn money from the sale of James McCarthy to Wigan Athletic. The club's finances have been boosted by the 'add-on' payment from Wigan following the 1.2million sale of McCarthy last summer. (Daily Mail)

Houllier ready to take the reins at Villa

Gerrard Houllier is poised to become the 25th manager in Aston Villa's 126-year history when his appointment as Martin O'Neill's successor is announced in the next 24 hours. Houllier will be only the second foreign coach to take charge of the Midlands club after Jozef Venglos' ill-fated spell two decades ago. He is set to be named as Villa's fifth manager of the new millennium after John Gregory, Graham Taylor, David O'Leary and O'Neill. (Various)

Toshack ready to end his tenure with Wales

The Football Association of Wales have called a press conference for this afternoon when manager John Toshack is expected to announce his resignation. Toshack is understood to feel he has taken Wales as far as he can following Friday's 1-0 defeat by Montenegro in their opening Euro 2012 qualifier. (Various)
