On-song Liverpool crush Canaries in ruthless Anfield rout

Luis Suarez scored his seventh goal in three matches against Norwich to help Liverpool return to winning ways with a thumping 5-0 victory at Anfield.

The Uruguayan struck following Jordan Henderson’s well-taken opener and £12 million signing Daniel Sturridge became the first Reds player since Ray Kennedy in 1974 to score in his first three matches before Steven Gerrard’s strike and Ryan Bennett’s own goal completed the rout.

Steven Fletcher’s first half double gave Sunderland a 3-2 victory at Wigan. The Black Cats replied to David Vaughan’s own goal with a Craig Gardner penalty followed by Fletcher’s fine one-two. Angelo Henriquez pulled one back.

Adam Le Fondre came off the bench at St James’ Park to spark a
Reading fightback. The sub struck in the 71st and 77th minutes as Newcastle lost 2-1 having led through Yohan Cabaye’s free-kick.

Peter Odemwingie’s late equaliser earned West Brom a 2-2 draw at home to Aston Villa. Christian Benteke and Gabriel Agbonlahor gave Villa a two-goal lead before half-time but Chris Brunt pulled one back and Odemwingie levelled seven minutes from time.

Jonathan de Guzman netted a second-half double as Swansea beat Stoke 3-1 at the Liberty
Stadium. Ben Davies gave the hosts the lead shortly after the break before De Guzman’s brace and Michael Owen’s late consolation.

Joe Cole’s first West Ham goal for ten years earned the hosts a 1-1 draw after Loic Remy scored 14 minutes into his QPR debut after his £8m move from Marseille.
