Konde leaves Easter Road for Greek club Panionios

HIBS defender Oumar Konde yesterday completed a 18-month deal with Greek outfit Panionios. The versatile 27-year-old, who played in both defence and midfield during his time at Easter Road, joined the club only last January.

However, he was deemed surplus to requirements by John Collins and recently spent a few days training with Austrian side Sturm Graz.

But the former Swiss Under-21 cap has opted instead to join up with German manager Ewald Lienen, whom he knew from his time in the Bundesliga with Freiburg and Hansa Rostock.

Meanwhile, Hibs midfielder Scott Brown will walk a suspension tightrope in the coming weeks in the knowledge he is only one more booking away from a three-match ban.

The 21-year-old picked up his ninth booking of the SPL season in Sunday's 3-0 defeat to Inverness Caley Thistle and is now on the verge of his second suspension of the campaign.

The Fifer was saddled with a reputation for ill-discipline early in his career after his inaugural season as a first-team regular in 2003-04 was blighted by 11 yellow cards.

The arrival of manager Tony Mowbray saw Brown appear to clean up his act, with 2004-05 seeing him cautioned five times, a number repeated last season with the addition of an opening-day dismissal. However, this term he has followed up two bookings on Intertoto Cup duty with nine yellows and one red.

Drew Herbertson, the SFA's head of disciplinary and referees, explained: "If Scott Brown's caution against Inverness is confirmed as a three-pointer that will take him up to 15 points and one more yellow card short of a three-match ban."

Hibs manager John Collins is to run the rule over "one or two trialists" in a closed-door game against Roy Keane's Sunderland tomorrow.

The Easter Road side will take on their English Championship opponents at the Stadium of Light as Collins looks to strengthen his squad during this month's transfer window.

Hibs fans still have the opportunity to buy tickets for their side's CIS Cup semi-final clash with St Johnstone tomorrow week.
