Queen of the South have announced the return of Stephen Dobbie to the club.

Dobbie, 33, scored 47 goals in 83 league games for Queens between 2007 and 2009 before enjoying a successful career in the English leagues with Swansea, Blackpool, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Fleetwood and Bolton.

The striker, who began his career with Rangers and also had spells at Hibs and St Johnstone, has been playing as an attacking midfielder most recently.

Queens’ football development manager Jim Thomson said: “We’re still in shock that we’ve been able to acquire his services, given last season he was playing in the English Championship, but credit to the board for releasing the funds.”
