BATHGATE beat Dundee Violet 2-0 last night to set up a tense finale to the Premier League promotion race.
The win, courtesy of goals from Alan Brazil and Marco Andreoni, puts Thistle level on points with Armadale as the teams battle it out for the fourth and last remaining spot in next season’s Super League.
Armadale, who hold a five-goal advantage over Bathgate, travel to Violet on Saturday for their last game. Bathgate, meanwhile, end their season with a home match against Jeanfield Swifts on Monday, meaning Derek Strickland’s side will know exactly what they have to do that evening to claim promotion.
Meanwhile, in the South Division, promotion hopefuls Livingston took a firm grip on their own destiny with a fighting 2-1 win at West Calder. Grant Sneddon gave West Calder an early lead but goals from Declan McAvoy and Brian Jaconelli gave Livingston, who now only need a single point to clinch a Premier League spot, a priceless victory. Elsewhere, Pumpherston drew 0-0 with champions Fauldhouse and Edinburgh United lost 3-2 at home to Tranent.
