Fixture headache from big freeze

HOCKEY: Grange’s attempt to unseat eight-times champions Glynhill Kelburne was literally frozen out, the pitch at Bellahouston being a sheet of ice after overnight rain and then heavy frost. However, the Edinburgh side remain in pole position in the Aberdeen Asset Management first division, three points ahead of Kelburne, but with two games more played. Inverleith’s game with Kelburne met the same fate.

The entire first division programme fell victim to the frost and ice, presenting Dave Crighton, SHU Competitions and Events Manager, with a real headache to replay these games in time for the league split to start in late February. The problem is that fourth and fifth spot in the division are not yet determined. To compound the issue, the indoor season starts this coming weekend.
