MARKLE, East Lothian: The fishing continues to be pretty spectacular with some terrific specimens being caught. The biggest recent example was a whopper of 16lb caught by J Meiklejohn from Edinburgh. Mark Anderson, also from the Capital, used a Black Dancer to bag a beauty of 15lb 6oz, and Archie Mathieson from Longniddry had a terrific brace of 15-pounders which fell to the charms of a Cat's Whisker. David Mornin from North Berwick took one at 14lb 8oz on a Yellow Dancer, B Coburn had one at 14lb on a Dawson's Olive and William Lambie of Falkirk, took three for 18lb – best 10lb 9oz – on a Damsel. FORBES OF KINGENNIE, Broughty Ferry: It was an eventful week at Kingennie. With the weather not so good, the water was very brown from all the rain but, nevertheless, some good fish were caught. The Specimen Pool gave up some big fish with Mr McCabe taking a 15lb trout on a Bunny Leech. That was closely followed by Mr Small with a 13lb specimen. Other fish varied in size from 6-10lbs and were taken mainly on lures. The Woodside Pool has been giving bait anglers a good deal of action this week with fish up to 2lb plus being caught with worms and power bait helping anglers get their bag limit. Over on the Bankside Pool fish of 2-3lb were giving the guys a good bit of sport. The top-taking patterns included the CDC, Humungus and the Cat's Whisker. Catch and release anglers enjoyed themselves with lots of fish safely returned.

SWANSWATER, Stirling: Over 400 fish were landed at Swanswater last week with Tuesday to Friday being the most successful spell. The mild, calm, settled weather has seen the fish remaining in the top couple of feet of water and feeding actively. Nymphs and small lures fished on a floating line have been doing best but fish were also being taken on wet flies and, especially on the small ponds, some dries. Favourite patterns included Diawl Bach, Hare's Ear, PTN, Cormorant, Damsel, Dancer, Gold Head Daddy, Black Pennell and Spider. Last week's best bags included Alastair Anderson, Dunfermline, four for 20lb 11oz including Rainbows at 9lb 5oz and 6lb 6oz and two Blues, Ross Carroll, Stirling, three for 13lb including two Blues, bigger one at 8lb 5oz, Lawrence Maguire, Falkirk, four for 15lb 8oz including an 8lb 4oz Rainbow and two Blues and Jim Allan, Kilsyth, three for 12lb 14oz including a 7lb 12oz Rainbow.

ORCHILL LOCH, Braco: The weather has been very changeable and mild for the time of year. Trout are being caught all round the fishery but still very slowly and the depth has been varying with the weather. Favourite flies included the Damsel, Cat, various coloured Fritzes, Yellow Dancer and the Diawl Bach. The Bannockburn 312 Club had a good day taking 56 fish for 113lb 8oz with David Lewis taking the heaviest basket for 17lb with the heaviest tipping the scales at 5lb 12oz – it was taken on a Yellow Dancer. Also doing well last week were John McLaren from Causewayhead who took three fish for 8lb on a Black Fritz, David Pitcaithly, Falkirk, three for 8lb on a Bloodworm, John McGilvary, Almondbank, two for 7lb 8oz on a Green/White Fritz.
