First division
AIRDRIE United host fellow strugglers Greenock Morton at New Broomfield this afternoon with both sides in need of the points. Airdrie recorded their first win of the season against Ayr United at the end of last month, a triumph that ended a run of five straight defeats. However, consecutive defeats to Dundee and Inverness have seen them slip back to the bottom of the table.
Kenny Black's side have, however, picked up the majority of their points at home this season and they will be aware that victory today will lift them to within two points of their opponents.
Morton were also on a losing streak of five matches before they faced Raith Rovers at Cappielow last weekend.
A thumping 5-0 win gave them their fourth victory of the season, however, and they will be keen to build on that success. That result gave the management team of James Grady and Allan McManus their first win since taking over on a permanent basis and they will now be aiming to take the club up the table.
With this match important to both sides, history suggests that it will be a closely-fought affair with the last three fixtures between the teams yielding just two goals.
