Excuse of the week
WORLD record holder Laure Manaudou of France blamed her swimsuit for her defeat in the Olympic trials which means she won't compete in the 400m freestyle in Beijing.
As records tumble for swimmers using the controversial new Speedo LZR suit, Manaudou – nicknamed the 'French Mermaid' – is tied into a contract with Arena. "It's tough to be beaten," said a tearful Manaudou on Monday. "All I can say is that I am waiting for Arena's new suit."
