Ex-Claymore Don tells Wolves to stick to game plan

EDINBURGH Wolves' head coach Don Edmonston has called on the gridiron side to build on the momentum which has earned them impressive wins in the last two games, in order to overcome the formidable Lancashire Wolverines this weekend.

The former Claymore said today that Edinburgh must make up for past mistakes against Lancashire and continue to be a force to be reckoned with in the BAFL Northern Division 2.

Edmonston said: "Lancashire are a tough side, and they'll make us fight for every yard.

"We've really pushed ourselves on the field recently and it's paid off with back-to-back wins and I think we're more than capable of challenging the Wolverines if we stay focused and stick to the game plan. We need to maintain the intensity we've shown in the last few games, and build on that momentum.

"If we can hold back Lancashire then we'll have two wins on the road, which is something – we'll already be doing better than last year.

"The last time we played Lancs we shot ourselves in the foot when we took the lead early only to blow it in the second half and lose the game. That's not something we're willing to repeat.

"If we beat Lancs on Sunday we'll go to 3-1, which blows our division wide open. Now is the time for our players to step up."

Wolves travel to Lancashire on Sunday but their next home game will be on June 14, at Meadowbank Stadium against Chester Romans, who Edinburgh defeated in their last away visit.
