England set for friendly in Seville
ENGLAND's friendly against Spain on 11 February will take place in Seville, the Football Association has announced.
The two countries met in 2004 in Madrid but the clash was marred by racist abuse. Ashley Cole and Shaun Wright-Phillips were both subjected to monkey noises during Spain's win at Real Madrid's Bernabeu Stadium.
The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) was fined 100,000 Swiss francs (55,000) for the abuse.
Meanwhile, the RFEF plans to submit a joint bid with Portugal to host the 2018 World Cup.
"The board have finalised today the formal tender for Spain's candidature to organise the 2018 World Cup to be held jointly with Portugal," the RFEF said. The winning bid will be announced in December 2010. Spain last hosted the tournament in 1982.
Fifa president Sepp Blatter said Spain, alone or with Portugal, were strong candidates for 2018, as were England and the Netherlands with Belgium.
Australia, China, Mexico and Russia have also expressed interest.
