Elgin City 1 - 2 Ross County: County squeeze win over Elgin
SCOTTISH Cup finalists Ross County's return to action was a low-key affair as they edged out former Highland League foes Elgin.
Staggies' boss Derek Adams included new signings Darren McCormack and Marc Corcoran in his starting line up, while Third Division Elgin started with six former County players in their team.
The Dingwall men probed for an early opener and it was one-way traffic at this stage. Craig Frizzel made a rare home break, then County had a penalty claim turned down six minutes before the break.
Ross County finally broke the deadlock on 55 minutes when a Scott Morrison cross was eased back across goal by Di Giacomo and Scott claimed the touch from close range.
Seven minutes later Lawson made it 2-0 with a superb 20 yarder after Brittain had knocked the ball into his path.
But City came back on 82 minutes when Gunn battled to keep possession on the edge of the box and curled a low effort in off the post.
Miller then found the net on 87 minutes but an offside flag cut short the home side's celebrations.
