Edinburgh star Smith called up for Scots rugby tour of Argentina
EDINBURGH prop Craig Smith was today called up to Scotland's squad for the forthcoming rugby tour of Argentina after uncapped Glaswegian Moray Low pulled out injured.
And in another alteration announced today, Max Evans, the 24-year-old Glasgow wing/centre, fills a vacancy in a back line that already includes his brother Thom.
Low sustained an ankle injury in Glasgow's Magners League victory over Munster in Cork at the weekend and there will be a knock-on effect with Smith named last week in Scotland's A squad to visit North America.
A decision is expected later this week with former Heriot's prop Bruce Douglas (Llanelli) a strong favourite although Phil Fitzgerald, the one-time Watsonians and Boroughmuir prop currently playing at star-studded Toulon, could be the dark horse.
Meanwhile, Scotland coach Frank Hadden is refusing to rule out Simon Webster for Argentina even though the Edinburgh three-quarter has been hampered by a hamstring strain.
"We are still waiting to see if Simon Webster will recover. He'll be subject to further monitoring and we'd hope to make a decision next week," said Hadden.
