Duffy seeing progress as Clyde chase Montrose
A WIN tonight for bottom side Clyde over Montrose would see real hope emerge that the Bully Wee can avoid finishing at the bottom of the Scottish Football League for the first time in their 134-year history.
Jim Duffy's men have spent more than six months at the foot of the table but a victory this evening would pull them to within three points of the Gable Endies with three games in hand.
Duffy, though, claims he is not overly concerned about league positions. "My only target since coming here was to make Clyde a competitive team on the park," he said. "We set no points target or position target, we wanted to be competitive and we are getting there."
Clyde defenders Alan Lithgow and Ally Park are expected to miss out again through injury, with midfielder Paul McMullan also on the sidelines because of a knock and striker Marc McCusker possibly joining him after picking up a hamstring injury in the weekend defeat to Annan.
Montrose posted their first win in six games on Saturday - and their first under interim manager Ray Farningham - when they defeated Elgin City 1-0. A win for the Links Park men would see them jump over East Stirling and also create a six-point gap on their hosts, but they are without injured defender Gordon Pope.
