Dons watch Hendrie in defeat to Dunfermline
ABERDEEN gave a run-out to trialist Lee Hendrie at Dunfermline last night but the former Aston Villa and England midfielder could not prevent the Dons crashing to a 1-0 defeat in their third pre-season friendly.
The First Division side scored the only goal of the game courtesy of a Pat Clarke effort after 53 minutes. Hendrie started the match for the visitors.
Meanwhile, Scotland manager Craig Levein watched as his former side Dundee United easily dealt with challenge of Third Division Queen's Park at Hampden, beating them 6-0, with Damian Casalinuovo and Jennison Myrie-Williams both grabbing doubles.
Former Spider Barry Douglas helped start the ball rolling in just five minutes when he released Danny Cadamateri on the left and Damian Casalinuovo converted his low cross.
Five minutes later Cadamateri sent a low drive past Gordon McPherson to make it two.
United with Garry Kenneth and Andis Shala in the centre of their defence showed the difference in class again in 17 minutes when Casalinuovo broke into the box and sent home a right foot shot from 16 yards. Midway through the half it was four as Jennison Myrie-Williams flew at a retreating home defence and netted with a fierce shot.
Myrie-Williams made it five just before the hour mark with his fierce finish coming from his left foot this time and Scott Robertson netted a penalty with quarter of an hour remaining.
