ANNAN improved their play-off hopes after an uninspiring contest.

Graham Bell grabbed the only goal in the 28th minute as he latched on to a through-ball from Jamie Dunbar and Bell blasted past the isolated Ali Brown.

Forfar looked to be feeling the effects of their cup exertions against Rangers as they struggled to force an equalising goal. The visitors' best chance fell to Ross Campbell but he was denied by an impressive Craig Summersgill save.

Dumbarton 1

Cowdenbeath 1

COWDENBEATH came from behind to snatch a barely-deserved draw at Dumbarton.

The hosts dominated the early stages and took the lead in the 33rd minute when full-back Pat Boyle fired home on the rebound after Stevie Murray's shot was parried.

However, the league leaders equalised shortly after the interval when John Dempster drilled past Hay from 12 yards to secure a precious point in their promotion push.

Elgin 1

Albion Rovers 0

ELGIN City remain marooned at the foot of the table despite earning a 1-0 win over Albion Rovers at Boroughbriggs.

The decisive City goal came in the 19th minute when Steven MacKay was tripped in the box before himself down and netting the spot kick.

Seconds after the break, Albion almost levelled when Andy McNulty dropped a timid Bobby Barr effort, but the Elgin keeper reacted bravely to deny the on-rushing Ian Harty.

Montrose 0

East Stirling 2

AFTER a poor first half, this game broke into life six minutes into the second period. Andy Rodgers did well down the right and drove the ball across for Jamie Stevenson to force home.

Chris Hegarty denied Michael Bolochoweckyj a second goal for the visitors, clearing off the line, but the Montrose did not look like getting back in it.

Colin Cramb sealed the points in stoppage time with an opportunist finish on the break.

Stenhousemuir 1

Berwick Rangers 2

BOTH sides had goals ruled out in the first half in this game, but promotion hopefuls Stenhousemuir did take the lead in the 28th minute. After the Berwick defence failed to deal with a Chris McLeod high ball, Scott Dalziel was on hand to score from 12 yards.

The visitors' equaliser came just after the hour mark, Stuart Callaghan scoring directly from a corner. A delightful 40-yard lob by Fraser McLaren proved to be the winner 10 minutes from time.
