East Fife 1 Brechin City 2

EAST Fife lost their first away game in 2008 as Iain Diack struck the winner for Brechin four minutes into injury time.

Brechin dominated from the outset and Kevin Byers gave them the perfect start when after seven minutes Charlie King swung in a cross from the left and Byers netted with a sweetly struck half-volley.

Greig McDonald levelled for the Fifers at the start of the second half, but Diack swept home the late winner from Michael Paton's cross.

Queen's Park 0

Ayr United 3

AYR netted three goals for the third game in a row as Bryan Prunty's hat-trick saw them coast to victory.

Early substitute Ryan Stevenson made an immediate impact when he supplied the assist from which Prunty opened the scoring after nine minutes.

Prunty netted his second when he reacted to knock the ball home from close range, and he completed his hat-trick when he lifted the ball home after Queens goalie David Crawford rushed from his goal.

Raith Rovers 3

Peterhead 0

RAITH maintained their slender advantage at the top of the table thanks to a comfortable victory over the 10-man Blue Toon.

Following an uneventful first half, the game sprung to life on the hour mark when Peterhead's Neil McVitie was sent off for handling on the line. Gary Wales hit the bar with his spot kick, before making amends seconds later.

Graham Weir headed Raith's second and Wales netted the third with an audacious 40-yard lob.

Stirling Albion 0

Arbroath 2

BASEMENT club Arbroath won their first match since the opening day as Stirling lost their third in a row.

Stirling had the better of the first half, and Martin Grehan should have netted just before the break, but he fired straight at the keeper after being set up by Nathan Taggart.

But two goals in 60 seconds at the start of the second half were enough to see Arbroath snatch a rare win. Bryan Scott opened the scoring before Barry Sellars headed the second goal.

Stranraer 2

Alloa Athletic 2

JOHN Kane was the hero for Stranraer as he netted a late equaliser to deny Alloa their first away victory of the season.

Gregory Tade gave Stranraer the half-time lead from the penalty spot after Craig Frizzell was tripped.

Andy Scott levelled for Alan Maitland's men after Steven McKeown's shot came back off the bar. Dougie Hill then headed Alloa in front but Kane levelled in injury time to salvage a point for the Blues.
