Dillon backs pal Flood to show class at Parkhead

SEAN DILLON still speaks to former team-mate Willo Flood every day – but he insists the lines of friendly communication will be completely closed tomorrow.

The Irishmen were neighbours on Tayside during Flood's 18 months at Dundee United and forged a close bond during their time playing together before the winger moved on to Celtic.

Dillon, Flood and fellow Dubliner Jon Daly all stayed within a few minutes walk of each other and were regular visitors to each other's homes.

But the street has taken on a quieter feel since Flood's January move to Parkhead.

The former Manchester City and Cardiff player made his debut in the Old Firm game against Rangers last month but has had to be patient because of his ineligibility in cup matches since.

But Dillon insists there is no doubt Flood will go on to prove a cut-price steal.

He said: "I still speak to Willo most days, even though he's moved down to Glasgow now.

"It's a bit strange not having him around because he stayed just down the road. The place is certainly a lot quieter.

"But he's loving every minute of it and is just desperate to start playing as much as possible.

"When Celtic signed him there were a few people asking why but anyone who has actually watched him play will have seen how good he is. He won't be doing anything different so, once he gets into the team regularly, I think he'll remind everyone what he can do."
