Devlin's late strike seals the deal for Tynecastle
Tynecastle 2 - 1 Leith Athletic TYNECASTLE sprung a surprise in their line-up for this Premier Division match by giving a starting berth to the experienced David Bingham. His inclusion paid off when Tynecastle took the lead after only eight minutes.
Tynecastle were awarded a corner on the right and a high ball into the Leith box fell to Ross Allum who spun round and drove a low drive past Gordon. The game opened up after the goal with threatening penetrative runs from both sides. Play raged from end to end, but, at half-time, Tynecastle had the advantage. In the second half Leith's self belief paid off when they were awarded a penalty in the 74th minute following a trip in the box by the Tynecastle defence.
Leith's Stevie Radzinski, who had been involved in the move, dusted himself down and stroked the spot kick past Gilbertson.
However, it was Tynecastle who grabbed the all-important winner in the 80th minute when Paul Devlin turned and buried a low drive into the net.
