Darts: Semi-final meeting for Martins
MARTIN PHILLIPS and Martin Adams will clash in the BDO World Championship semi-finals after winning their last-eight clashes.
Veteran Welshman Phillips sprung a major surprise by ousting second seed Scott Waites 5-4 in a thriller at Frimley Green.
Phillips – a 125/1 outsider at the start of the week – took 76 minutes to see off his Yorkshire opponent in a superb performance.
Fellow old-timer Adams, meanwhile, had little trouble beating Garry Thompson 5-2.
The 53-year-old third seed – in his 17th world championship – was in control throughout the contest before the Yorkshireman mounted a late – but ultimately futile – fightback.
