Cycling: Croall and Baird in title tests

Two City of Edinburgh cyclists will seek to retain their titles when the first session of the Scottish Track Championships takes place at Meadowbank Velodrome tonight.

Bruce Croall bids for a sixth successive win in the kilometre time trial and Emma Baird defends the women's 500 metre time trial title. The third gold medal up for grabs is in the junior pursuit, where Greg Brown (Dooley's RT) faces Angus Gillies of the Capital's Bicycleworks team in a straight final.

Double European junior champion John Paul (City of Edinburgh) will be in action tomorrow when he contests the sprint against opponents including his team-mate Callum Skinner, another double medallist in Portugal last week.

Elsewhere, Evan Oliphant finished 11th overall at the Paris-Correze road race in France.
