Capital cyclist Evan Oliphant extended his fine run of form when he posted two podium finishes over the weekend.
Winner of the Tour of Reservoir the previous weekend, the 31-year-old Team Raleigh rider reaffirmed that he is in good shape when he outsprinted Ben Greenwood (Team Hope Factory Racing) to take the honours in Saturday’s O’er The Crow ’n’ Doon road race over a 55-mile route at Fintry after the pair had broken clear and dominated the event. They crossed the line more than a minute clear of Harry Tanfield (Herbalife-Leisure Lakes Bikes), who claimed third spot.
Yesterday, Oliphant resumed where he had left off, with the same duo taking charge of the Kilmacolm Kermesse and breaking away from a strong field that included a clutch of international riders with Greenwood for company.
On this occasion, it was his English rival Greenwood who had the edge in the final sprint, ousting Oliphant by less than a bike length with Scott McCrossan (Rock to Roll Cycles) in third spot.
