Cycling: Gifford clash for Lines and Creber
DAVID LINES and Ross Creber, colleagues in the Scotland team at last year's Commonwealth Games, will lock horns in tomorrow's opening race of the Scottish Power Renewables Sup6r Six Series at Gifford.
Lines has been handed the task of mentoring the sport's future stars under the banner of the Livingston-based Endura/PedalPower Development Team this year. He will combine with fellow Scotland international Gary Hand at the head of a seven-strong squad.
Creber, the 2009 Scottish Road Race champion from South Queensferry, will ride in the colours of the Cycle Premier-Metaltek team.
The pair will be joined in the 80-strong field for the event which will be contested on a 65-mile route starting at 1pm by an international star of a different era, with 1998 Commonwealth Games rider Andy Matheson of Musselburgh RCC among the locals in action over the East Lothian circuit.
Host club Edinburgh RC will look to Ross Crook, while the Capital contingent also includes Finlay Young (Velo Ecosse).
