Cycling: Croall clinches gold for City
CAPITAL cyclist Bruce Croall struck gold at the Richmond Bank Holiday Meeting in Yorkshire when he took the British Grass Track 800 metres title.
It was a second success in as many days for the City of Edinburgh club, with his colleague Daisy Sherwood having lifted the women's title the previous day.
Croall eased through his heat, beating a field that included team mate Jamie Bremner, then clinched the final ahead of Ben Elliott (VC St Raphael) and Tom Gosbee (Team Welwyn).
Sherwood chalked up wins in all four events of the women's omnium. Both riders will be back in action on the Meadowbank boards when the latest round of the DHL National Track League takes place tonight (first race 7.15pm).
Croall, bidding for his fourth successive league title, currently leads from Ross Crook (Edinburgh RC), while Sherwood tops the women's table.
Meanwhile, David Millar and his Garmin team-mate Cameron Meyer have confirmed that they will race in the Edinburgh Nocturne on Saturday.
