Curling: Scotland men claim world title in Canada

SCOTLAND won the men's World Curling Championship after David Murdoch clinched a 8-6 extra-time victory over Canada's Kevin Martin.

It came down to the last rock in the 10th end of the final to break a 6-6 tie at the Moncton Arena in New Brunswick, Canada.

It is a second world title in four years for Murdoch, 31. His team-mate Ewan MacDonald said: "Unbelievable. We beat these guys three times in three days, but that's what we train for.

"It's absolutely unbelievable."

Martin said: "It's never easy to lose, especially when you have the hammer but they made the shots and got us in big trouble."

Norway took bronze in the men's competition after beating Switzerland.
