Crowds flock to Bill McLaren tribute
OVER 4,000 devotees of Bill McLaren turned up at Murrayfield Stadium last night to pay tribute to the legendary rugby commentator, who died earlier this year.
Dougie Donnelly, the BBC sports presenter, conducted proceedings as the crowd heard tributes from legends of the sport, including Andy Irvine, Gavin Hastings, Gerald Davies, Mike Gibson, Colin Deans, Jim Renwick and Hugh McLeod.
From the current generation of players Chris Paterson also shared personal memories, as did Rory Lawson, the grandson of McLaren who will be on the bench in tomorrow's Calcutta Cup match at Murrayfield.
