Croall makes up for wasted time by wrapping up title
CAPITAL cyclist Bruce Croall capped another fine season in the saddle when he signed off with a win in last night's round of the Meadowbank National Track League.
With the previous three weeks of racing having been washed out by rain, the City of Edinburgh rider had already sealed the overall title for the third successive season.
However, with the British Track Championships on his race schedule later this month, Croall is keen to maintain his good form.
And he proved last night that he is ready to challenge for a podium finish in Manchester two weeks from now. After seeing off David Martin (Bicycleworks.com) and Graeme Steen (City of Edinburgh) in the 12-lap scratch, Croall finished third behind Martin and Graham Barclay (Leslie Bike Shop) in the 30-lap Derny paced event.
He rounded off his night's work and his league campaign with victory in the 35-lap scratch when he powered away on the final two laps to race home clear of Barclay and Toby Sherwood (City of Edinburgh).
Another City of Edinburgh rider, Charline Joiner took the women's title in her first season of competition, while Ben Muir (Edinburgh Racers) was the leading youth.
