Saltires short on options for finale in South Africa

THe struggling Saltires may only have 11 fit players as they
conclude their South African tour today.

The Scots bring down the
curtain with a T20 double
header against a North West XI after Sunday’s scheduled clash with Highveld Lions was
cancelled.

However, their resources are stretched to the limit after a
demanding month-long trip.

Sussex player Matt Machan is definitely out, while pace pair Saffy Sharif and Ali Evans are rated doubtful.

Coach Pete Steindl revealed: “Matt has a niggling injury which forced him to bat down the order on Wednesday and
it has not responded to
treatment.

“Saffy and Ali are also carrying knocks and we’ll see how they are in the morning.

“We’re looking for a strong finish and everyone who is fit will take part in at least one of the games.”

The Scots have managed just one win in ten tour games, with two draws.
