Saltires need to be more ruthless
SCOTLAND coach Pete Steindl last night ordered his batsmen to get greedy as they bid to set up a victory chance against North West Dragons.
Steindl watched his bowlers toil throughout a hot day in Potchfestroom yesterday. The Dragons made 341-8 before declaring 41 runs behind the Saltires’ first innings effort. Scotland reached the close on 5-0 and will need to score quickly if they are to have any chance of forcing a win on the closing day today. Steindl said: “We’ll not get ahead of ourselves in terms of targets but it is important for a few more guys to spend time in the middle.
“We batted well in the first innings and I want to see a few guys get greedy tomorrow.
“If they get a start they must go on and make it count.”
Steindl was less pleased with yesterday’s shoddy show in the field. “It wasn’t out greatest day, to be honest. We were a bit sloppy and missed a few opportunities to put more pressure on their batsmen.”
