Goram makes comeback for Greenock
ANDY Goram is coming out of cricketing retirement to help Greenock celebrate their 150th anniversary.
The former Rangers and Scotland goalkeeper will strap on his pads on Sunday to represent a Cricket Scotland XI against the Western Premier club.
Goram, 48, has been selected by Saltires No 2 Tony Judd, who will lead a star-studded side featuring Scotland players past and present.
Veteran opening batsman Bruce Patterson, who starred with Goram against Australia in 1989, is also making a return appearance in whites. Former Saltires bowler Paul Hoffmann and former Warwickshire batsman Michael Powell are others to feature in Judd’s side which includes current cap stars Ryan Flannigan and Gordon Goudie.
The Greenock side, led by Richie Berrington, will be boosted by former Glenpark favourites including Fraser Watts and Craig Wright.
Judd, a former Greenock coach, said: “We’ve assembled some great players from past and present.
“It’s a nice way to celebrate a significant landmark for Greenock and it should be great entertainment for supporters.”
