Cricket: Watch out for Haq attack

Never mind the Oval and the Champs-Élysées. Records have been tumbling here too.
Scottish cricket records. Cue Majid Haq.

The Clydesdale and former Ferguslie off-spinner’s two victims at Taunton last Sunday took his tally of international wickets to 190, thereby leapfrogging John Blain’s 188, and rendering him the second-highest Scottish wicket-taker. Not too bad for a lad who is only 29, with many of his most productive years yet to come.

Maj is disappointed by the England ODI cancellation – last time around in Edinburgh he accounted for Andrew Strauss and Kevin Pietersen – but the immediate future still looks rosy for this self-effacing Scottish star, whose recent wickets against Canada also took him to the very top of our ODI charts with 40.
