Cricket: Scottish Cup | 1st Division

HERIOT’S yesterday set up a Scottish Cup semi-final showdown with capital rivals Carlton by beating East Kilbride in a game switched from waterlogged Torrance House to Clydesdale’s Titwood ground.

Steve Knox made 87 not out to guide Heriot’s to the target of 158 with eight wickets and an over to spare. East Kilbride had made 157 for eight in their 35 overs, Scott Dalgleish top-scoring with 39. On Saturday, EK’s home First Division (West) clash with Stenhousemuir was one of several matches washed out.

Scotland all-rounder Moneeb Iqbal was the key man as Weirs snuffed out the challenge of Kelburne at Albert Park. In another rain-affected contest, veteran Dougie Wylie hit 37 not out to guide the visitors to 97 for seven in their 33 overs.

But, in tricky conditions, Iqbal kept his cool to make an unbeaten 38 in Weirs’ seven-wicket success.

Penicuik maintained their fine form in the East Zone by beating Edinburgh Accies at Kirkhill, while Falkland thumped West Lothian.
