Cricket: Murden ready to rebuild Accies now that promotion has been secured
EDINBURGH ACCIES cricket captain Nick Murden has admitted the club will have to strengthen over the winter after their return to the SNCL after a three-year absence was confirmed.
The Capital side defeated Holy Cross at Arboretum on Saturday in their final East League Division One match of the summer. It meant that although they did not win the league - that honour going to Watsonians II - they finished the highest placed side eligible to gain promotion to the SNCL, just ahead of Fauldhouse.
And with no Border League club able to go up they do not have to play a play-off this coming weekend with planning for the return to the revamped national stage having already begun.
Murden said: "We can start to strengthen the club again in the coming months in preparation for the challenges ahead."
This term Accies finished behind Watsonians II and Carton II, but played some good cricket throughout and had a number of notable individual performances.
These included 138 by Harry Paton with the bat in one match and six wickets by Marc Jordan in one innings
