Cricket: Marchmont triumph in thriller
Marchmont won the Activcity twenty:20 trophy for the first time after a thrilling last-ball finish against Holy Cross in the Myreside final.
After an eight-wicket semi-final win over Drummond Trinity captain Sam Peachey was at the heart of a final chase that saw 24 runs achieved from the concluding two overs. Adding to drama the last ball was a bye with the batsman missing and the keeper's throw wide of the stumps when a direct hit would have given Holy Cross the 250 prize having lost less wickets.
In their semi Holy Cross defeated Morton with Pat Lynch taking the first five wickets.
