Cregg backed by Hughes
HIBS manager John Hughes believes new signing Patrick Cregg will become a fans' favourite at Easter Road as he strives to earn himself a contract extension.
The 23-year-old followed Hughes from Falkirk to Edinburgh, but has only signed a one-year deal as he feels his performances in a green jersey will ensure Hughes is forced to pull out the stops to make sure he is offered an extension for the following season. Hughes is more than happy with such a scenario as he feels it keeps players on their toes. "I like things to be incentive-based, I want to keep my players hungry as some get a contract and put the tools away," he said.
"To be fair to Patrick, there was another year for him in terms of appearances made in his first season. But it was Patrick who said to give him a year because he believes that by Christmas I'll be wanting him to sign an extension, he has that hunger and determination."
