Craig Bellamy would boost us all, says Ledley

CRAIG BELLAMY coming to Celtic would energise the entire team, according to Welsh international team-mate Joe Ledley.

The possibility seems to have become live again after manager Neil Lennon said in the build-up to this weekend's Dublin Super Cup that he had "not given up hope" of striking a financial arrangement with fellow participants Manchester City, who own Bellamy's registration. Any deal would have to accommodate both the Welsh striker's 80,000-a-week wage, which he in part divests in a charity project, and Celtic's contrasting financial structure.

On moving to Scotland last summer Ledley admitted Bellamy, on loan with Celtic six years ago, had sold him on the Glasgow club. The midfielder in turn is sold on the 32-year-old returning on a temporary basis once more.

"In playing with Craig for the national team I know he has an incredible desire to win," Ledley said. "He also brings the best out of his team-mates. He has the ability to motivate those around him. He has blistering pace and that is something that makes life easier for midfielders and wingers when they are putting balls through.

"He knows how to score a goal. I know he'd do very well at Celtic if some sort of deal was sorted out between the clubs. I haven't spoke to Craig so I don't know what his thoughts are on it. But I'd love for him to come to Celtic.

"He's been at the club before, knows what's it all about and he'd be a fantastic signing.

"We'll just need to wait and see what happens between now and the end of the transfer window."
