Competition at Hearts cost Cinikas

FBK Kaunas midfielder Marius Cinikas has blamed strong competition at Hearts for his failure to agree a loan deal with the club.

Cinikas and his Kaunas colleague Vygantas Zubavicius spent two weeks on trial at Riccarton last month but were deemed surplus to requirements by manager Csaba Laszlo.

Cinikas then went on trial with First Division Livingston before returning to Lithuania. He said: "There is very strong competition for places at Hearts. Let's put it this way: There were no free places there.

"Vygantas Zubavicius and I trained with the Hearts reserves for two weeks. I was also on trial at Livingston but the clubs failed to agree transfer details so I did not stay."

Cinikas praised the facilities at Riccarton in comparison with training sessions at Kaunas, adding: "You cannot even compare them."
