Clyde 2 Ross County 0

WILLIE McLaren produced a scintillating solo show to inspire Clyde to a crucial win and deny County the chance to make a move on the top end of the table.

The winger scored one and set up the other in a match which saw Gregory Tade make his debut for the Bully Wee after signing from Stranraer.

The home side went close when Marvyn Wilson's netbound shot was deflected behind by Suart Golabek's lunging block.

County responded when a through ball rebounded off the back of Dyron Daal into the path of John Stewart. However, the striker's deft shot was clawed away by David Hutton. The Highlanders appeared to be warming to their task and a couple of corners in quick succession had the Bully Wee on the back foot. However, from the second of them Clyde broke upfield to open the scoring with a fine solo effort from McLaren.

He flicked Billie Gibson's clearance over Golabek on the halfway line and sprinted unchallenged to stroke the ball behind Derek Soutar.

County should have levelled in 65 minutes when substitute Adam Strachan found Daal unmarked on the penalty spot.

However, the striker blasted wastefully over and was made to suffer as Clyde broke upfield to double their advantage.

McLaren was again the County tormentor, picking out Waddell for a simple tap-in.

The visitors squandered a further opportunity when Stewart shot wide after being put through and with it went any chance of a fightback.
