Chaplain hat-trick as Albion Rovers run riot

Albion Rovers came from behind to defeat Berwick Rangers 6-1 at Shielfield and move into second place in the Third Division with midfielder Scott Chaplain grabbing a hat-trick.

The Borderers went ahead after just eight minutes through Damon Gray, but John Gemmell volleyed home after half an hour, Todd Lumsden put Albion in front three minutes from the break and right on the half-time whistle Chaplain nodded home.

Five minutes after the break Chaplain netted again, substitute Chris Hamilton made it 5-1 19 minutes from time before Chaplain netted once more five minutes from time to complete a memorable night.

Annan also move up the table into third place after a 5-1 win over hosts East Stirling. The Galabank side took the lead after just 75 seconds when Ian Harty slid in to convert an Aaron Muirhead cross. The second came on 15 minutes when David Cox hooked a Steven Sloan cross over his shoulder and into the net.

O'Connor drilled the ball through Michael Andrews' legs to make it three before half-time with left back Mark Docherty curling home the fourth three minutes after the break. East Stirling got a goal back in 62 minutes through Scott Johnston but Annan substitute Graeme Bell added a fifth in injury time.
