Changing room chat: Dunfemline's grand way to 'shut Jim Leishman up'
DUNFERMLINE Athletic are set to hand over £1,000 to one of their players if he can score the winning goal against Rangers in their Co-operative Insurance Cup tie later this month.
The First Division side will face the current cup holders and SPL champions at Ibrox, a venue where they haven't won for 38 years.
Pars director of football Jim Leishman was the club's hero in 1972, netting the winner in a 4-3 victory over Rangers in the old First Division.
Leishman continues to dine out on the tale and chairman John Yorkston is ready to offer the unique cash incentive in an effort to re-write the history books - and shut Jim up!
Yorkston, set for a financial windfall from the third-round tie which was drawn earlier this week, said: "Obviously, we are pleased at drawing Rangers rather than some of the other options in the cup.
"I was talking about it to one of the directors and we may give 1,000 to the Dunfermline player who scores the winning goal at Ibrox just to shut big Jim up. He always talks about his winning goal there."
The third-round ties take place on 21/22 September.
