Changing room chat: Glamorous kit launch for Accies

HAMILTON Accies brought a touch of glamour to the launch of their home strip for next season as Miss Scotland finalist Mhairi Brown modelled the new kit.

The 22-year-old from Bothwell made it to the final ten of this year's competition, won by Andy Murray's old school buddy Stephanie Willemse.

Mhairi is the girlfriend of Accies right-back Tom Parratt and works with a training and recruitment agency based at the club's New Douglas Park stadium.

The blonde beauty is no stranger to the red and white hoops as she wore them with pride as a Soccerette on Sky Sports' Soccer AM last November.

Accies new shirt sponsors are Reid Furniture.

U10s branded 'hopeless'

PARENTS in Melbourne were left horrified when an Australian Rules Football under-10 team were ripped to pieces in the club website's match report.

After the nine-year-olds of Preston Bullants lost a match by just two points the report, written by the team coach, said: "Our skill level was hopeless ... we were greedy in the forward line. There wasn't any kicking and our tackling wasn't in the game."

Bullants president Dennis McNiece said the report was "not what Preston Bullants Junior Football Club is about".

Bone tests for young Nigerians

IN a move that will bring back painful memories of the moustached Saudi Arabian 'schoolkids' who beat Scotland in the 1989 Under-16 World Cup final at Hampden, Nigerian players taking part in the next Under-17 tournament will be subjected to MRI bone scans to determine their ages.

Accusations of age cheating have blighted the 'Golden Eaglets' three Under-17 World Cup wins in 1985, 1993 and 2007.

But the Nigeria Football Federation is confident the MRI test will bring to an end such accusations.

Tales from the tabs

WOLVES HUNT McCARTHY

HAVING seen one starlet lured south to Burnley in the shape of Brian Easton, it appears that Hamilton have a fight on their hands to avoid losing another of their talented youngsters to the English Premiership.

According to the Daily Record, Wolves have tabled a 1 million bid for James McCarthy, although the Midlands club were only prepared to leave that offer on the table for 24 hours. "At first I thought I wanted to stay in Scotland but now I'm relaxed about the idea of going down south if that's what happens," said the teenage midfielder.

Meanwhile, the Sun reports that Scotland striker Ross McCormack could also be bound for the Premiership, with Hull City ready to launch a 10m raid on Cardiff for the former Motherwell forward and team-mate Joe Ledley.

The Sun and the Daily Express also both 'exclusively' revealed that Rangers 'forgotten man' Andy Webster is still very much in the thoughts of Craig Levein – his former manager at Hearts – having secured a season-long loan deal with Levein's current club, Dundee United.
