Celtic's Niall McGinn wants to atone for Hibs failure

NIALL McGINN is desperate to make amends for his part in Celtic's home defeat to Hibs on Wednesday which left the Hoops ten points behind Rangers at the top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.

The Northern Ireland internationalist, signed from Derry City last January, has been one of the pluses for the Parkhead club this season and has started the last three games after impressing in previous appearances off the bench.

However, the 22-year-old was replaced by Ki Sung-Yueng on the hour mark against Hibs, moments after Easter Road keeper Graeme Smith had prevented him putting Celtic back in to the lead, after Anthony Stokes had cancelled out Marc-Antoine Fortune's opener.

Hibs scored a winner seconds from the end through substitute Danny Galbraith to leave Celtic boss Tony Mowbray under some pressure ahead of tomorrow's SPL match against Hamilton at New Douglas Park.

McGinn is keeping his fingers crossed he gets another start.

"We had chances to tie the game up against Hibs and I had a chance myself that I should have scored," he said.

"I was disappointed having to come off even though I know I didn't play well, but hopefully I haven't lost my chance in the team."
