Carly Booth is going back to school
CARLY Booth is facing a return to the Ladies' European Tour Qualifying School after the Comrie player missed the cut in the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters, the final event of the season.
Lying 94th on the Henderson Money List, the 18-year-old needed a strong finish to climb into the top 80 and secure full playing privileges for next season.
However, rounds of 76 and 77 saw her fall four shots of the halfway cut at The Emirates, meaning a return visit to the Tour School, where she graduated a year ago, is now on the cards.
Pamela Feggans retained her position as the leading Scot in Dubai, the Ayrshire player adding a 74 to her opening 71 to lie eight shots behind the leader, Lydia Hall from Wales.
Lynn Kenny (73) and Krystle Caithness (74) also made it into the last two rounds on 149, but, in addition to Booth, there was disappointment for both Kylie Walker and Vikki Laing.
Walker's excellent run of making five successive cuts came to an end as she shot a second-round 74 for 152, one less than Laing, who went into the event lying eighth on the money list but saw her season end on a low note following rounds of 76 and 77.
Lydia Hall shot a second round of five-under par 67 to take a one-shot lead at the halfway stage, the 22-year-old from Bridgend carding seven birdies and two bogeys to climb from eighth to first on a total of seven-under par. Anna Nordqvist of Sweden finished in second place after a second round of 68 with Denmark's Iben Tinning in third, a shot further back after a 69. Russian Maria Verchenova, Norwegian Marianne Skarpnord and England's Melissa Reid ended the day tied for fourth.
Overnight leader Florentyna Parker carded a 75 and ended the day five shots back in 10th. American Michelle Wie carded a level-par 72 and finished in a tie for 16th position.
In the race for the Henderson Money List title, Lee-Anne Pace's only challenger Laura Davies, needing a top-three finish, effectively conceded defeat in her battle to claim Europe's No 1 crown after finishing three shots behind the South African on 148.
