Cald hoping Lee stays hot for Dons
ABERDEEN boss Jimmy Calderwood hopes Lee Miller's recent accolade does not put the Pittodrie hitman off his stride.
Miller was named Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League player of the month for December, after chipping in with three goals and leading the Dons to three victories during the final month of 2008.
The in-form striker is the Dons' top scorer and grabbed his eighth goal of the season in a 2-1 victory over Alloa in the fourth round of the Homecoming Scottish Cup on Saturday.
The last of Jimmy Calderwood's players to be recognised with a similar award was Sone Aluko, who was named young player of the month for November.
The 19-year-old picked up the award while nursing a hamstring injury and has struggled to replicate his fine form since his return – but did look back to his best when grabbing the winner against Alloa.
Calderwood, whose side face Kilmarnock tonight, is hoping Miller's award does not have some mysterious jinx over the striker.
He said: "Lee has been brilliant for us this season. Sometimes players have a bit of dip in form after they get these awards, but we hope that won't be the case with Lee. "
